Aiden has a problem, and he doesn't know why. For fifty years, he has lived in a post-apocalyptic world, surviving with his brother Red on the shores of Lake Michigan by fishing from his sailboat Angela. He does not age, a fact amplified when Red passes away. The same day, a stranger comes to town, and his perspective on life in a post-civilization world changes.

This short story was written when the author's father passed away in 2023. He wanted to capture some of the thoughts and feelings he experienced. The author took his loss and turned it into a way to draw readers into the Purple Sky Saga, a world he hopes to publish at least five books—one a year starting in 2026.
